Small Crocheted Items
Whilst browsing the internet for ideas of small items to make, I came across this blog Crochetroo which lists patterns for crocheting. Although these patterns are copyrighted so I couldn’t make any of these to sell, there are some wonderful items to make as gifts and also ideas to inspire my to create my own patterns (I’m currently making a fitted tank top from some Yo-Yo yarn by Wendy and have made the pattern up so just waiting to finish it to see if it fits so I’m not adverse to creating patterns from scratch!)
Etsy
I have just found a buying/selling website called Etsy where you can buy and sell your homemade wares. Now apparently this is different to eBay since you set the price at which you want to sell products, additionally the site is American based, but there are lots of sells (and I can only assume buyers as well) that are based in the UK.
I have always liked the thought of knitting dolls / bags / socks (ie smaller items) and selling them to make money but didn’t think that I would be able to recoup my costs for the wool via eBay and so have always put this on the backburner – however, having now found this website, I think I may browse it a little longer, make a couple of items and then list them to see how things go. Obviously with baby it will take me time to knit a few things up, but as she settles into a routine it is becoming easier to find half an hour most days now when I could commit to doing some knitting… just need to plan what to make now, although I think socks are favourite! Having said that I have recently purchased a mixed bag of different coloured wools on eBay and so if I found a suitable doll or toy project I could make something, athough I guess I need to consider copyright if I make it from someone else’s pattern.
Local Countryside
After I picked by DS up from school yesterday we made the most of the dry weather (after the rain that we have had recently), popped Izzy into a baby sling and went out for a walk…. two hours later we got back home!
I hadn’t realised just how much countryside there was, quite literally, just down the road. My DS has been out walking with my OH’s parents and their dog and one of the last walks that he went on was to the local Mere. I had no idea where this was and so suggested that we go out and he show me.

This picture shows most of the mere just as the sun is starting to come out after the rain!
Yes, we did get caught in the rain…

I thought that the sun poking through the trees here made a lovely view

My DS spotted that there were two rainbows and insisted that I take a picture
Magazine Subscription
I’ve just treated myself to a magazine subscription – luckily though, it was completely FREE!! I used my Tesco ClubCard vouchers last year to buy a subscription to Gardeners World for my dad for Christmas and although I received my vouchers through a while ago I have only just gotten around to seeing what I can have. There were no crafty type mags available which I thought was a shame, so I treated myself to Prima instead. Now I just need to wait for the details to come through so I can start receiving it…
I suppose I could have saved the vouchers up for more presents, but seeing a I have gotten £9 of vouchers in the last 3 months I thought to hell with it and to treat myself. I’m sure I’ll get enough vouchers for another gift by the end of the year!
