It’s Hardly Spring
I decided at the weekend that I need a long cardigan, you know, the ones that people wear and a jacket when it’s not warm enough to go without a jacket but also not cold enough for a coat. I went into town yesterday and went around all the shops knowing exactly what I wanted but was very surprised to see lots of spring clothes being sold!
Izzy also has a little baby jacket but decided to bring some milk up on it so it needs washing. That’s not a problem but with the weather as it is, she needs to wear a jacket every day so I decided to also buy her a new jacket so that at least if one is in the wash, she can wear the other one. Also by nature of the fact that it’s a jacket, it’s thicker than normal clothing and therefore takes much longer to dry – hence the need for two jackets instead of just letting it dry overnight! Again I faced the same problem – the shops are selling some lovely baby clothes but they are pretty little summer dresses but she can hardly go out wearing them; she’d catch her death…. but I can’t find a suitable jacket anywhere so I’m resigned today to making sure she is wrapped up warming in several blankets when I take her out, but I’ll still feel guilty that she isn’t wearing a jacket.
You know the same thing happened to me years ago – it was summer and the sandals that I was wearing broke (I only had one pair at the time), so I went into town with the thought that I could easily buy another pair, but lo and behold, apparently, even though it was the middle of summer and the sun was beating down, the shops had decided that it was now autumn and they wouldn’t be selling sandals, only shoes and boots! Not exactly helpful, I just can’t understand why they do it, I mean who is organised enough to decide in advance of the seasons exactly what clothes that they want and buy them before the weather puts in an appearance and lets us know whether it’s going to be a mild or harsh winter, or a wet or glorious summer….
